My Story of Keeping Young Looking

Hardly can anyone get my age right. This is partially proven by the way people talk to me, as if they were talking to a much younger lady. I have no complaint about that, but I do reflect sometimes what I might have done right to keep the way I look.

Maintaining youthful look requires a holistic approach. Food is one of the greatest contributors to health and beauty.  When it comes to skin nourishing, two food sources require equal consideration (thanks to the fact that skin is the only organ that is exposed): food we eat (one effective way is through drinking herbal tea) and food we apply on our skin.

I used to think that skin works independently from our blood stream. Whatever it receives, nutrition or toxic circulates within skin itself and is not able to penetrate blood stream. I once argued with a friend who advised me to reduce use of cosmetics . I obstinately insisted that the only channel of toxic intake to our body was through digestive system. This long holding belief was shattered overnight about eight years ago when my doctor prescribed cream for topical use. During the treatment, I witnessed how my hormone soaring day by day. I was convinced that the tiny pores of our skin do have connections with our bloodstream. Reflecting on what I applied on my face each day, I started to panic at the amount of toxic my skin care products purchased from department stores brought to my body. Without any hesitancy, I tossed away all those which clearly marked to contain synthetic chemicals. I decided that my skin, from then on, should “eat” the same standard food my stomach took: natural and organic.

I searched and researched. Soon I came up with the first recipe for facial care. From time to time, I make slight modifications to the recipe to adjust to the season and for better result. But one principle has always been held: the ingredients must be natural, organic, and fresh(mostly food grade). I reject all artificial preservatives, coloring, and fragrance. Nature creates wonders and why do we use something else?

At the beginning of the fresh new skin care journey eight years ago, I was still battling against severe acne conditions. My skin was far from smooth: pores were big, and scars were visible. Today people would have a big difficulty imagining that I ever had acne. I received numerous compliments for my skin condition, which had almost never happened before. I give away my little brown bottles to relatives, friends, and neighbors. I received praises only, never a complaint.

I decided to share my little successes with more people who wish to age slowly and elegantly, look natural and youthful. Sharing the little products is also to share the philosophy, to live in harmony with nature.
