Nature and Health

Ancient Chinese held that humans are blessed with a life span of 120 years of age. Those who were able to live up to the heavenly age were those who followed the Dao, the way (or the rule ) of the universe.

The Dao, the single most important concept in Chinese culture, is very profound. Put in modern term, it means everything in our universe, including the running of our earth, human society and individual health, is governed by one master program. Following this, our bodies are thus micro-universe operating the same way as macro-universe. Since macro-universe, or nature, has Yin (storing energy) and Yang (releasing energy), like night and day or winter and summer, our body also has a balanced state of Yin Yang combination at any given time of the year. When the balance is broken, health problems occur. One’s Yin Yang balance point shifts slightly throughout the course of the year. Therefore, what we eat, how much we sleep and how we exercise should also change accordingly.

Seasonal herbs are products of such principles. Therefore, they provide the best remedies when we fail to live up to the universal rules. Take for example, dandelions, the little herbs (ironically considered weeds by modern western residents) prepare themselves during winter and come out of earth in early spring, when Yin recedes and Yang starts to pervade. It is thus a Yin herb, best for spring and summer detoxification. If, however, a patient needs detoxification while possessing excessive Yin, we can supplement dandelion tea with ginger to neutralize the effect while still achieving detoxification without burdening our body with additional Yin.

Our carefully chosen herbal teas meet the needs of common seasonal and chronic health issues. There is, however, another basic natural rule. On our earth, flowing rivers never get putrid. The message from mother nature to us is that we should make all effort to ensure free flow of the two key elements in our body: blood and Qi ( energy flow). The health tools are exactly for this purpose. Chronic aching are all caused by clogged blood or meridians (flow Qi channels). These tools are simple, but have proven over thousands’ of years’ history effects for pains and aching. Used over a long period of time, they boost our overall health.

When the frequency of our bodies and spirits are in tune with that of nature, it is called harmony, or He-Shie in Chinese. In this case, health is achieved and happiness is realized.
