Audience: Students and the General Public
This lively, hands-on workshop engages participants through storytelling to explore why Chinese people celebrate the New Year in unique ways. Through Q&A and visuals, attendees learn about the Chinese lunar calendar, festive customs, and symbolic decorations.
Young participants will have the opportunity to try on traditional Chinese costumes, as wearing new clothes is an integral part of the holiday. The session concludes with a crafting activity—making paper lanterns or zodiac animals for the current year.
Supplies Needed: Red Bristol paper with pre-printed patterns, scissors (one per participant), and one or two staplers
